There are sooooo many things to be thankful for, but for me in this current season, I am most thankful for this...

So, as many of you know Derek began his application process for a commission as an Air Force Officer in September of 2015. All was submitted and finalized just before Thanksgiving of that year. We waited and waited for an answer that would change our lifestyles tremendously for four, longer-than-usual, months.

In March of this year, we learned that he was in fact selected (read more about that here) and we had just a few months to make quite large, and quite literal moves. We quickly and strategically set some plans in motion in preparation for Derek’s departure for Officer Training School. We were advised to anticipate him leaving as early as July…but as many of you know, that did not happen. (Read more about that here).

What I learned and experienced in that season of waiting, far outweighs what a rushed and emotionally trying transition would’ve taught me.

I learned:

·         God’s timing is always better than mine.

·         Relinquishing control to Him is much more satisfying than the stress of maintaining it myself.

·         Having more time with loved ones and being present in those little moments, is a gift I wouldn’t have otherwise experienced.

After all this waiting, we have finally heard back! I’m so thankful because now we can start making plans for how to spend our remaining months in the Bay Area. While it’ll be hectic and I’m sure go by far more quickly than we’d like, I look forward to really investing this time wisely.

Derek will be leaving…drum roll please…March 29th! Let the countdown begin…(125 days from this moment to be exact).

Thank you to everyone who has supported, encouraged, and prayed for us. We receive it all with open arms and hearts, and can’t wait to see how God uses us in this new adventure into the military life.

I have Jesus, and I have you...I'm so ready. Happy Thanksgiving from the Torres'!
